The A.C.T.S Prayer Method

The A.C.T.S. prayer method is a simple and powerful guide to help structure your prayers. The word 'ACTS' serves as an acronym, breaking prayer into four meaningful components:

  • ADORATION: Honoring and praising God for who He is.
  • CONFESSION: Acknowledging your sins and seeking forgiveness with a repentant heart.
  • THANKSGIVING: Expressing gratitude for God's blessings and faithfulness.
  • SUPPLICATION: Presenting your requests and needs before God.

This method is versatile and can be used for both brief prayers and extended times of devotion.

Download this free printable template for the A.C.T.S Prayer method to enhance your prayer practice.I've included verses that beautifully represent each component.

You can add it to your prayer journal, save it on your phone for quick reference, and share it with others who might find it helpful!

Is It Biblical?

Yes: Every element of the A.C.T.S prayer method is rooted in Scripture, making it biblically-based.

No: The A.C.T.S prayer method itself is not explicitly mentioned in the Bible.

Jesus taught His disciples "The Lord's Prayer," which is recorded in Luke 11 and Matthew 6. However, neither Jesus nor the Bible stated that this is the only way to pray.

While there are various prayer methods available, it's important to ensure they align with and do not contradict the foundational principles of prayer exemplified in "The Lord's Prayer."

Example of A.C.T.S Prayer Method

Dear Lord,

I lift your Holy name high above all the earth. Please forgive my sins and purify me from all unrighteousness. Thank you for the precious gift of life as I rise this morning. I humbly ask for your divine protection and guidance as I begin my day.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
